Earnings disclaimer

Effective: effective date, set at launch

No one can promise you an income from a coating business, and we don't. What you earn depends on you, your market and many things outside anyone's control. You can lose money.

No guarantee of income

Nothing on this site, in The Epoxy Playbook, on a consultation call or in a hands-on class is a promise or a guarantee that you'll earn any amount of money, or any money at all. Our programs teach skills and systems. What happens with them is up to you and your market.

Examples are examples, not predictions

When a page mentions what floors sell for, what leads cost, what owners have earned or what a business sold for, it's an example of what happens in the market. It isn't a typical, average or expected result for you, and it isn't a promise of what you'll earn.

Revenue is not profit

Revenue is what customers pay you. Profit is what's left after materials, labor, equipment, rentals, the vehicle, insurance, marketing, licenses, taxes and the jobs you have to go back to. Many claims about coating businesses quote revenue. We keep the two apart, and so should you when you read anyone's numbers, including ours.

Results vary

Your results depend on, among other things:

  • The demand and the prices in your market, and how many other installers work there.
  • Your prices, your costs and how many of your quotes you close.
  • Your skill, your speed and the quality of your work.
  • What your leads cost, the season and the weather where you work.
  • The licensing, insurance and tax rules in your state.
  • The economy, and how much people are spending on their homes.

Starting costs are real

Starting a coating business means spending money before you earn any: training, equipment or rentals, insurance, materials and marketing. Run your own numbers with the startup cost calculator, and don't spend money you can't afford to lose.

Calculators are estimates

Our calculators and templates do arithmetic on the numbers you enter and on typical market prices. Their results are estimates for planning, not financial, legal, tax or insurance advice. Talk to an accountant, a lawyer or an insurance agent about your own situation.

No testimonials

We don't publish testimonials, success stories or student results. If we ever do, they'll be from real people, and we'll say whether their results are typical.

How we make money

Epoxy Business School earns money from Playbook memberships, consultations and hands-on classes. We don't sell coatings or equipment, and we don't take payments from the training providers, suppliers or products we list.
