Editorial standards

Every page on this site is fact-checked and reviewed by a working coating-company owner before it's published. Here's how pages are made, how we check facts, how we stay independent, how we use AI, and how to report an error.

How pages are made

Our guides, tools and program pages are written for people who install coatings and run the business around them. Pages are drafted with AI assistance, then fact-checked and reviewed by a working coating-company owner before they go live. A page isn't published until it reads the way the work is actually done.

How we check facts

  • Rules and technical facts are checked against the authority behind them: state contractor licensing boards, OSHA, ASTM and ICRI standards, and manufacturers' technical and safety data sheets.
  • Prices are checked against what dealers, rental shops, insurers and training providers currently charge. When prices vary, we give the range rather than one number.
  • One figure per item. The same item, a grinder, an insurance policy, an LLC fee, carries the same figure on every page, so the guides, the calculators and the courses agree.
  • Calculations show their arithmetic, and our own examples are labeled as examples.
  • Legal and safety topics (licensing, insurance, silica, isocyanates, contracts) state the rule and tell you to confirm with the board or a professional. We don't give legal, tax or insurance advice.

Independence

Epoxy Business School is not a supplier, a franchise or a dealer program. We don't sell coatings or equipment.

  • Mentioned to compare, not endorsed. Training providers, suppliers and products on this site are there so you can compare them. A mention isn't an endorsement or a partnership.
  • No paid placements and no affiliate links. Nobody pays to appear on a page or to be ranked higher. If that ever changes, the page will say so next to the link.
  • Our own classes are labeled as ours. Once partner classes exist, they're marked as Epoxy Business School classes.
  • Competitors are described neutrally, with facts, not opinions.

Review before publication

Before any page goes live, someone who runs a coating company reviews it: Owner: the reviewer's name and role. The review checks the page against how jobs are actually priced and done, and for anything that should stay private, such as a company's own pricing.

Library pages are published under “Epoxy Business School” as the author. We don't invent author profiles; a person is named only when that person is real and has agreed to be named.

How we use AI

Pages on this site are drafted with AI assistance. People then fact-check them and review them before they're published. Nothing is published on the strength of an AI draft alone.

We don't use AI to invent people, quotes, reviews, photos, experiences or numbers. If a fact can't be confirmed, it's left out, or the page says it varies and why.

What we never publish

  • Invented reviews, testimonials, students, instructors, partners, case studies, quotes or class dates.
  • Invented statistics.
  • Earnings promises. When a page mentions what others have earned, it's framed as an example, next to our earnings disclaimer.
  • Stock photos presented as our work or our team.
  • State pages that would read the same with another state's name swapped in.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us on the contact page and choose “A correction”. Include the page, what's wrong and, if you can, where you saw the right figure.

We check every report. Confirmed errors are fixed and the page's updated date changes. When a correction changes a number or a recommendation, we add a short note at the end of the page saying what changed and when.

Updates

Prices, fees and rules change. We update a page when a price or a rule changes, when a reader reports an error, and on a regular re-check cycle: Owner: confirm the cycle, for example prices and fees every six months and every page at least yearly.
